Our work focuses on three core areas:
Awareness & Advocacy
We work to break the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use by encouraging open conversations, sharing stories, and supporting community education initiatives.
Support & Community Impact
Through events, partnerships, and outreach, we aim to provide support to individuals and families navigating mental health and substance use challenges, while fostering connection and hope within our communities.
Education & Scholarships
Education can open doors and create opportunity. Our scholarship program helps reduce barriers for individuals pursuing education while navigating personal challenges, empowering them to build brighter futures.
Our Values
Compassion – Meeting people where they are, without judgment
Hope – Believing recovery and healing are possible
Education – Creating opportunity through learning and awareness
Community – Building strength through connection and support
Respect – Honoring every individual’s story and journey
Our Commitment
At the NATE D Foundation, we are committed to honoring the legacy that inspired our work by creating meaningful change today and for future generations. Every initiative we support is guided by empathy, integrity, and a deep respect for those impacted by mental health and substance use challenges.
Together, we can create awareness, inspire hope, and support recovery.

Nate’s Story
Nate was born on March 12, 1992 in Langley, B.C. He worked in the construction industry, specializing in concrete forming and was known for his incredible sense of humour. Nate was able to light up any room with his jokes and his smile. A proud Scottish soul, Nate loved dogs, family dinners, and treasured his relationships with family and friends. His kindness, compassion and big heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
The last four years of Nate’s life were dedicated to recovery. In 2019, he had the opportunity to attend a trauma therapy treatment center in Thailand, where he confronted his mental health challenges fully and returned home with renewed hope and vitality.
Sadly, the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic led to a relapse, and Nate passed away on January 28, 2021. His life, love, and laughter continue to inspire the NATE D Foundation, which exists to honor his legacy and support others facing similar challenges.
